    Big Dreams

Big Dream could be a real story although almost ludicrous. It features short vignettes about people obtaining their 15 minutes of glory after struggling for years to achieve weird dreams. A character with an odd cartoon voice narrates each vignette. The entire project is presented as a life achievement type of television show. The juxtaposition of the tales with the narrator is odd and telling.

At first, I confused the story about the lady on the construction site about a tale of a woman who could get apartments built for her neighbourhood. Still, after thinking about it, all there is a woman obsessed about her old trailer. It's the same oddness and devotion to their cause that all the characters featured in this short have in them. None of them have life saving causes, yet they devote their lives to them.

Anson Jew exposes each sequence with long pans and truck ins. While doing so, he adds a series of multiplane camera effects which he masters thoroughly. On top of the pans and trucks, repeated short animated sequences are quite effective. Jew also designs background and shots with bright lively colour and well-detailed character work. It looks good.
