Xombie is one of the many animated projects created by animator James Farr. Xombie so far has five Webisodes of a continuing series, featuring, you've guessed it, zombies. Seems like zombies all the rage these days. In the introductory story, a little boy (could be a girl too) washes up on a creepy shore at night. As he ventures into a nearby cemetery, he's attacked by zombies. Is this the end?

The pacing for this series is excellent. The build up from the shipwreck through the slow ascension to the cemetery is well done and keeps the viewer on edge. One never knows what to expect next. When the zombies start attacking, the story moves into high gear. Farr ends the story in a quiet cliffhanger. Let's hope he can continue to pull this story off as he did in the next Webisode.

If there's one thing to say about the animation it's that it's animated like a video game. It's not a critic but it shows sthe animator's influences. He favours short animated movements with still body parts versus full animated frames. When you see the smoke effects, it fades out of view, like an arcade game. The music is imposing and lends promises of something great ahead.
